Big Daddy Hydrangea is a bold bigleaf hydrangea known for producing enormous, rounded mophead flowers that may reach 12 to 14 inches across. Depending on the soil’s pH, the blooms can appear sky blue, lavender, or soft pink. Thick, sturdy stems help support the oversized flowers, while large, glossy green leaves give the shrub a lush appearance throughout the growing season. Big Daddy makes a dramatic specimen plant and also works beautifully in flowering hedges, foundation beds, mixed borders, and cut-flower gardens.

Notes
Big Daddy Hydrangea blooms primarily on old wood, so avoid heavy pruning during late winter or early spring. Remove dead or damaged stems as new growth appears and complete any shaping shortly after flowering. Acidic soil generally produces blue blooms, while more alkaline soil produces pink flowers. Plant it where it receives morning sunlight and protection from intense afternoon heat, especially in Southern gardens. Keep the soil consistently moist but well-drained, particularly during hot or dry weather.
