Fairytrail Bride Hydrangea
Fairytrail Bride Hydrangea is a unique cascade hydrangea known for its elegant white lacecap flowers that form along the entire length of its arching branches. Unlike traditional hydrangeas that bloom mainly at the ends of their stems, Fairytrail Bride produces flowers at many leaf nodes, creating a graceful, waterfall-like display in spring.
Its spreading growth habit makes this hydrangea especially attractive when its branches are allowed to spill naturally over retaining walls, raised beds, slopes, and the edges of large decorative containers. It can also be planted near a woodland garden or along a pathway where its flowing branches have plenty of room to spread without frequent trimming.
The white flowers remain white regardless of soil pH, so adding soil amendments intended to create blue or pink blooms is unnecessary. The foliage provides a fresh green background for the flowers and helps the plant maintain an attractive appearance after its main spring display has ended.
Plant Fairytrail Bride Hydrangea in part sun or a location that receives morning sunlight and afternoon shade. Protection from intense afternoon heat is especially helpful in Georgia and other Southern gardens. Choose moist, well-drained soil and water deeply during its first growing season while the roots become established.
Apply two to three inches of mulch around the root zone to help conserve moisture and keep the soil cooler. Keep the mulch several inches away from the stems.
Fairytrail Bride produces most of its flowers on older growth, although it may also flower on new growth. Avoid cutting the entire plant back. Remove only dead, damaged, or unwanted branches, preferably after flowering. Our Old Wood vs. New Wood Hydrangeas guide explains why preserving older stems is important for many hydrangeas.
The official Fairytrail Bride Cascade Hydrangea profile provides additional information about its cascading growth, white flowers, sunlight needs, mature size, and pruning. It recommends avoiding routine trimming because much of the main flower display develops on older branches.

Notes
Fairytrail Bride blooms primarily on old wood, so regular pruning can remove the flower buds and reduce blooming. Plant it where its arching branches have room to cascade naturally. In hot Southern gardens, provide afternoon shade and keep the soil consistently moist without allowing it to remain soggy. Morning shade can also help protect its early flowers from late spring frost damage.
