Red Twig Dogwood is a deciduous flowering shrub best known for its brilliant red stems, which provide bold color after the leaves drop in fall. Clusters of small white flowers appear in late spring, followed by pale berries that attract birds and other wildlife. Its green summer foliage may develop red or purple tones in fall before revealing the colorful winter branches. Red Twig Dogwood works especially well in rain gardens, naturalized areas, moist borders, wildlife gardens, and mass plantings.

Notes
Red Twig Dogwood develops its brightest stem color on young growth, so remove some of the oldest, dullest stems near ground level in late winter or early spring. It grows best in consistently moist soil and can tolerate wetter areas where many other shrubs struggle. Full sun generally produces the strongest red winter color, although the plant also grows well in part sun.
