Limelight Prime Hydrangea

Limelight Prime Hydrangea is an improved, more compact version of the original Limelight Hydrangea. It offers earlier flowering, stronger stems, brighter fall color, and a more manageable mature size while keeping the dependable performance that made Limelight so popular.

Its large flower clusters emerge bright lime green in early summer before maturing to creamy white. As cooler weather approaches, the blooms gradually develop rich pink and reddish tones. Because flowers may be at different stages at the same time, the shrub can display green, white, pink, and red coloring throughout the season.

Strong stems help hold the heavy flower clusters upright, even after summer rain. The dark green foliage creates an attractive background for the blooms and helps the shrub maintain a full, tidy appearance.

Limelight Prime Hydrangea works well in foundation beds, flowering hedges, mixed borders, mass plantings, and specimen displays. Its smaller size also makes it easier to use in Southern yards where the original Limelight may become too large. The flowers can be cut for fresh arrangements or dried for seasonal displays.

Plant Limelight Prime in full sun to part sun with moist, well-drained soil. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season while the roots become established.

Apply two to three inches of mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture and keep the soil cooler. Keep the mulch several inches away from the main stems.

Because Limelight Prime Hydrangea blooms on new wood, it can be pruned in late winter or early spring before fresh growth begins.
