Ruby Slippers Oakleaf Hydrangea is a compact native flowering shrub with large, upright flower clusters that open white and gradually deepen to pink and ruby red. Its bold, oak-shaped leaves turn rich shades of mahogany, burgundy and red in fall, providing beautiful color after the flowers fade. Its smaller size makes it a great choice for foundation beds, woodland borders, mass plantings and smaller Southern landscapes.

Notes
Ruby Slippers blooms on old wood, so avoid pruning in late winter or early spring. Prune only when necessary and immediately after flowering to protect the following year’s flower buds. Morning sun with afternoon shade is especially helpful during hot Georgia summers. Its flower color isn’t affected by soil pH, and the plant generally needs little pruning when given enough room to reach its natural size.
