White Knight Weigela

White Knight Weigela is a graceful flowering shrub known for its clean white, trumpet-shaped blooms that appear from spring into early summer. The bright flowers stand out against the fresh green foliage and attract hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and other beneficial pollinators. Its light-colored blooms also make it useful for brightening mixed borders and planting areas filled with darker foliage.

Its naturally upright, arching growth habit makes White Knight a good choice as a specimen plant, informal hedge, foundation shrub, background planting, or addition to a mixed shrub border. Give it enough room to develop its natural shape without frequent trimming. Planting it where the branches can arch freely will create a softer, more attractive appearance than repeatedly shearing it into a tight shape.

For the strongest flowering, plant White Knight Weigela in full sun with moist, well-drained soil. It can tolerate some light shade, but plants grown with less sunlight may produce fewer flowers. In Georgia, water it regularly during its first growing season so it can develop a healthy root system. Once established, it can handle short dry periods, although occasional deep watering may be needed during extended summer heat.

A two- to three-inch layer of mulch can help conserve soil moisture and reduce weed growth. Keep the mulch several inches away from the main stems to prevent excessive moisture around the base.
